What is Skitch? Skitch is an image sharing program that you can download to your computer; here’s the catch- it is for Mac users only. If you have heard of Jing Project it is very similar, however Jing is for both Mac and PC.
Signing up and downloading Skitch is FREE! My school system for elementary and middle is Mac based so this program is perfect for me as well as anyone with access to a Mac. Using Skitch you can capture an image (screenshot) of anything- part of a document, a picture on your computer, website, a picture of yourself (as long as your computer has a camera), etc. You can then add text, circle, draw arrows or draw anything on the screenshot to highlight parts of the image you want the viewer to notice.
From here, your image will be saved automatically in your Skitch history. You can choose the format you want to save your image as (.jpg, .png, etc.), and you can then drag your image to an email, your computer, or wherever! The other way you can share your images and ideas is through webpost, which is automatically set up when you create an account. With webpost your image is uploaded to your Skitch page and then you can share the URL with whomever, embed it in your blog, etc. Check out the features of Skitch that I created using Skitch, by visiting this link.
Stay tuned for more on Skitch!
